MLB 10 The Show: Online League Info (PS3 Blog)

feb4-mlb10

New information came out over at the official playstation blog site about a new revamped online league for MLB 10:The Show. Many know that last season there were a few bugs that made the online league play unable to get through. This season it looks like they put a lot of effort and fixed the problems that many people had. I was so hyped about the online leagues addition on last seasons Show as it had a lot of potential. I do hope that this season they have done a lot to fix the problems.

We are again providing you with all online user stats and leaderboards, but the huge change this year is the addition of all player stats for your full 40-man roster. You will get access to the full “Around the League” screens, including Playoff Brackets, Standings, Statistics, Team Rankings, League Leaders and Awards. Just to relay the amount of data available in Online Leagues, we are potentially talking about 30 teams, with 40 players, each with 70+ stats!

That is just a little part from the blog which can be found here. Here is also a list of the new features and changes going on in the Online Leagues.

  • Additional Commissioner Slot (6 total leagues now)
  • NEW Auto-resolve feature. Set to On/Off when creating a league and helps keep leagues progressing
  • Ability to Drop and Replace players within an In-progress league
  • Apply a Custom Slider to a league
  • League Invitation system upgrade
  • New My Complete Leagues list, showing a summary of all completed leagues, the winner and playoff participants
  • New League Round-up and League History tabs in Gamer Card
  • More emails and communication on league changes
  • Players Needing Leagues upgrade. Commissioner can now send invites directly from that screen
  • Additional information about users for a commissioner resolving a game
  • Quit a league at any time (commissioner or league member). No more being held hostage
  • We will be doing a Official SGN MLB 10:The Show League so keep a eye out for that for signups.

    Bracketology Coming to Gridiron Gods

    TestBracket

A new idea is being presented today by Gridiron God’s Commissioner Noah Curran. The league, heading towards the end of a very successful season is going to be implementing a tournament that runs side-by-side with normal league play, “Think of it as the NCAA tournament of Gridiron Gods.”

There will be an upcoming draft where general managers will select a real life team. For instance, one might choose the real Colts with Peyton Manning, the Patriots with Randy Moss, etc… Then, each team will be paired up in a tournament modeled after the NCAA March Madness tournament, “We are going to allow some of the GM’s with bad team to prove their abilities, while also allowing those with stacked teams proving they can play with some of the worst teams in the league. It will be an interesting dynamic.”

The winner’s prize is still to be determined. Look for more information to come in the upcoming week.

Mike Wang Returns To 2K Sports

    feb3-nba2k

For those of you that are big basketball fans and that of the 2K Series you were probably shocked to hear that Mike Wang the Lead Gameplay Designer left 2K a year ago to work with their competition NBA LIVE over at EA Canada.  Well, if you are like me then you were shocked to hear that Wang will be returning to 2K Sports to once again become the Lead Gameplay Designer for them again.

Truly a big slap in the face to EA as they thought they had ‘their’ man to bring back the LIVE series but to Mike Wang he started to miss Visual Concepts and knew his place was back at 2K.

Wang to ESPN’s game blogger Jon Robinson and told him he went to EA for a new challenge.

“When I went over there (to EA), a lot of it was for personal reasons. I wanted to try something new, try a new challenge. But after being there and spending some time over at EA, it was clear that they do things a different way, and in a way it’s just inefficient and just not the place to be to make the best games,” said Wang in a recent conference call with ESPN to announce his return. “When I went there, I immediately missed VC (Visual Concepts), and it’s just one of those things where I tried to stick it out as long as I could, but I wanted to come back. With some of the creative decisions over at EA, it just made it difficult to stay there. They just want to make a different game than I had a vision for. So I reached out to (2K’s senior vice president of sports development) Greg Thomas and he was gracious enough to have me back.

Operation Sports also had a chance to sit down and talk to Wang. To check that out simply click here.

There was an inkling on “Some HUGE NEWS happening on the NBA Front” at 2K Sports by a tweet from Ronnie 2K, an employee for the company.

Looks like 2K will be the home of the best basketball game on the market.

    Goodbye LIVE!

Fairness Draft: Ten Teams and Draft Order

    Dorsey

The commissioner of Gridiron Gods addressed the media this morning announcing the ten teams that will take part in the long awaited “Fairness Draft:”

    League,

I come forward today with some exciting news. The leadership committee has finalized their list of the ten teams that will receive draft picks in the upcoming Fairness Draft, along with the draft order. I will start with pick ten and count down.

    10. New York Giants
    9. Baltimore Ravens
    8. Chicago Bears
    7. Jacksonville Jaguars
    6. Denver Broncos
    5. Detroit Lions
    4. Carolina Panthers
    3. St. Louis Rams
    2. Cleveland Browns (We understand that the Browns have asked to not receive a pick. However, they have the right to forfeit that pick come draft day.)
    1. Kansas City Chiefs

Please understand that this list was dissected under intense scrutiny over the last 7 days. We evaluated things like overall talent, depth of roster, ability of players, team record, etc… This list is not up for any further debate.

Please look forward to the release of a list of eligible players sometime soon.

    Until then….

    Commish
